In third grade, students have homework Monday through Thursday. As a general rule, homework should take no longer than 30 minutes a night (NOT including reading). Homework will include the following:
Reading for at least 20 minutes daily
An assignment to reinforce skills from the day. It will vary from day to day but will mostly include math, spelling and an occasional written response.
Students are responsible for:
Returning their homework the following day. Math homework is returned to your child's math teacher.
Returning their homework complete.
Being prepared for Spelling Tests on Friday.
As teachers we believe it is vital for parents to be involved! We encourage you to help your child when they are having a problem with the assignment. However, we discourage you from giving them the answers. We like these tips from scholastic.com about how to help your child with their homework Ten Homework Help Tips.
