Help your child get comfortable with their typing skills using online typing games such as Dance Mat Typing http://www.bbc.co.uk/guides/z3c6tfr.
Have them create stories using Google Docs and share them with their teacher and family members (audience is key!)
Have students write a short essay about an article or non-fiction book they read. See the Great Kids video for an idea of what this type of writing should look like!
Start a mommy or daddy "back and forth journal." You write a letter to them and place it on their bed and they write one to you and place it on yours!
Math
Practice math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
Use triangle flashcards to support the relationships between addition and subtraction and multiplication and division
Talk about math DAILY through real-world applications
Cooking with measuring cups. How many 1/4 cups make 1 cup?
Drop cookies on a cookie sheet in equal rows. How many all together?
How much is a pound of bananas at the store? How much is half a pound? 3 pounds?
Measure how tall you are? How far can you jump? Did this change the next month? Make a graph!
